The River Gallery at Bluff View will host a reception for its June Exhibit On Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at 400 E. 2nd St.
The exhibit. Inside & Out, runs from May 28-June 30 featuring Mark Chatterley (Michigan) and Ruth Koh (Tennessee).
Life and earth as a state of constant metamorphosis, transience, and the impossibility of stillness informs the artwork of the exhibiting artists in River Gallery's June show "Inside & Out". Inside the gallery will be ephemeral moments painted with the liberty and expressionism of a pallet knife by Tennessee artist Ruth Koh. Like a cloud continuously manipulated by the wind, her work embraces the beauty of an instant that will never be again and captures a feeling of the freedom that accompanies the uncontrollable.
Outside in River Gallery's Sculpture Garden, and Inside the gallery, the sculptures by Michigan ceramicist Mark Chatterly embrace the duality of life and decay, one not existing without the other, while also celebrating the perpetual push and pull of being a part of the human experience. Inescapably inspired by a recent trip to India, Mr. Chatterley touches upon a range of human conditions and inner workings of the mind.
Meet the artists at the opening reception.
Events are free and open to the public.
