Fire Breaks Out At House Off Highway 58

A fire broke out on Memorial Day afternoon at a house off Highway 58.

A 911 call was made at 12:10 p.m. reporting a house fire at 6019 Hillcrest Dr.

The Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department responded and found fire showing on an addition to the house. Firefighters worked quickly entering the addition to extinguish the fire from spreading to the main level of the house.

Due to heavy winds on the scene, the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department requestied a mutual aid response for additional water tenders and personnel. Tri-Community VFD responded to assist Highway 58 firefighters.

Fire officials reported the cause of the fire was accidental. No one was home at the time of the fire.

One minor injury was reported of a firefighter who sustained a knee injury.

Damages were estimated at $50,000.

The homeowners will be staying with family.
