Dr. Linda Cash, assistant director of schools for Robertson County Schools, has been chosen as the new school director for Bradley County Schools.

The Bradley County School Board on Tuesday voted 5-2 to hire Dr. Cash to replace Johnny McDaniel, who was fired in a close board vote.

The other finalist was Bill Heath, who has been director of Lawrence County Schools since 2007. A former math teacher at UTK, he was principal of St. John High School from 2000-2007.

Dr. Cash was named to her current post in July 2013 after serving as the assistant dean of graduate education at Union University. She was formerly a principal of an elementary school at Gallatin.

County Commissioner Dan Rawls praised her selection saying he believes "she will make an excellent school director for Bradley County."

He added, "She has expressed a desire to work with this commission."
