The county is planning to sell two historic buildings on Walnut Street across from the County Courthouse.
The old Elks Building and the original Title Guaranty and Trust Company headquarters are together known as the Mayfield Annex. They were named for the late County Councilman Jack Mayfield.
The county long occupied the structures, but they are now unused.
The RiverCity Company will be taking requests for proposals on the buildings.
The Elks headquarters, including a swimming pool in the basement, was constructed in 1907.
The four-story building has a brick exterior, but an interior wood frame construction.
The main entrance fronts on Seventh Street and includes handsome stonework.
Title Guaranty was first in the attractive red brick building at 619 Walnut. It moved next door to much-larger and elaborate quarters in 1925.
A painting of the original Title Guaranty building, when it was a stand-alone facility with a house next door, is in the newer Title Guaranty office. The old safe is still in the Title Guaranty building.
