Kathleen Marie Gilley, 88, of Chattanooga, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 26, 2015.

She was born in Chattanooga on Aug. 6, 1926, to the late Charles and Ira Bohanon West.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Noel R. Gilley; sisters, Mary Charlotte West, Virginia Koertge; and grandson, Monty Mansel.

She is survived by sister Mamie Dyer of Rossville; daughter, Gail (David) Silcox of Chattanooga; son, Rick (Paulette) Gilley of Ooltewah; son, Tom (Debi) Gilley of Ringgold; daughter, Starr (Scott) Small of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Stacie Dimmick, Bart Mansel, Lori Gracia, Steven Gilley, April Mohon, Taylor Gilley, Trent Gilley, Ashley Smith, Justin Pennington; 10 great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Marie retired after 37 years from Buster Brown Apparel, formerly Skyland International and United Hosiery Mills. Marie become a Christian at age 28 and valued her churches, particularly worship at Morris Hill Baptist and later at Maple Grove Baptist as a member enjoying many senior activities. Marie was a prayer warrior and faithful servant to her God. Marie had a heart for serving family, friend, or stranger. Marie will be missed by family and friends for her loving gentile spirit, humor, smile, positive encouragement and guidance.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 30, between 3-6 p.m. with services following at 6 p.m. in the chapel at Turner Funeral Home, conducted by Reverend Ronnie Dotson and Reverend Bill Mason.

Pallbearers will be Steven Gilley, Bart Mansel, Korey Jackson, Taylor Gilley, Justin Pennington, and Trent Gilley.

A private burial service will be held on Monday, June 1, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or Alzheimer's Association.
