In pursuant to O.C.G.A. 48-5-306, all Whitfield County property owners will be receiving the state-required annual assessment notice around the first week of June, according to officials with the county Tax Assessor’s Office.
The notice will contain an estimate of the taxes based on the prior year's millage rate.
The Board of Assessors is charged with the responsibility of locating, identifying, and appraising all real and personal property within Whitfield County.
Anyone who disagrees with the fair market value of their property may contact the Assessor’s Office. Under state law, a property owner has 45 days to file a written appeal.
This is not a bill. Tax bills will be mailed out by the Tax Commissioner’s Office later in the year.
The Assessor’s Office may be reached at 706-275-7410.
