Retired From Memorial Hospital After 35 Years

Paralee Davis, 84, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 surrounded by family and friends. 

She was born in Greenwood, Mississippi on October 22, 1930 to the late Emma Davis Benefield.

Paralee was actively involved in her church serving on the Nursing Ministry, the Serving Ministry, Sunday school and especially the Noon-Day Bible Study. Paralee was also actively involved in the Avondale Neighborhood Association.

She retired from Memorial Hospital after 35 years of service, with the last 22 years as an ET (Enterostomal Therapist).  She was the first ET in the state of Tennessee and previously served as President of the Ostomy Association where she received multiple awards include ET of the years 1992 - 1993.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Thomas Davis and her parents, Emma and Frazier (Bubba) Benefield. 

She is survived by her three children, Cheryl (Harold) Craw, Stephanie Davis and Thomas (Patricia) Davis; six grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, cousins and a special long-time friends, Edna Green.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 2, at Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, 734 Dodson Ave. from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will be in National Cemetery.

Arrangements are by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
