Birda Ruth Linam Cantrell, 79, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, died on Monday, May 4, 2015.

She was born in Harrison, to the late Frank and Mae Massengale Linam. She had previously resided in Chicago, Daytona Beach and Orlando, FL, and Northwest Georgia. She was a former employee of Salem Carpet and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed shopping, eating out and traveling to the Smokey Mountains.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Junior Lee Cantrell, Sr., daughter: Ruth Webb, great-grandson: Alex Jenkins, sister: Grace Poore, brother: Hershel Lowe, Avery Linam, Tom Linam, Bobby Linam.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Deborah (Robert) Beails of Menlo, GA, Carolyn Williams (Randy Steele) of LaFayette, Steve (Karen) Cantrell of Menlo, GA, Junior Lee (Cheryl) Cantrell, Jr., of Stewart, FL, Timothy (Gina Hightower) Cantrell of Fort Oglethorpe, sister: Mamie “Rosie” Sharp of Fort Oglethorpe, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6, from 2–9 p.m. and Thursday, after 9 a.m. until the service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, in the chapel with Reverend Arthur Cantrell and Stacy Evans officiating. Burial will follow at LaFayette Memory Gardens – LaFayette.

Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Homes – LaFayette Chapel.
