Chattanooga Nominated for Outside Magazine's Best Town Ever - AGAIN!
We surprised the outdoor world in 2011 by winning
Outside Magazine's Best Town Ever contest and we're in the running again.
This time, we have to win SIX rounds to get to the top. So vote in each round: (Round 1:

May 29-June 3). We know we're still the best town ever,

Bike-Hike Moccasin Bend with the National Park Service May 9
Join Outdoor Chattanooga and
Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park for a leisurely bicycle and walking tour of historic Moccasin Bend this
Sat., May 9, 9:30 a.m., beginning from the future home of the Moccasin Bend visitors center on Hamm Rd. The free tour will begin with a group bicycle tour to the tip of the peninsula, followed by a short walk to the TN River along the Old Federal Rd. trail. The ride is appropriate for adults and kids ages 12 and older when accompanied by an adult. Helmets are required. BYO-bicycle or borrow one from Outdoor Chattanooga.

Rapid Learning Moves to Chester Frost Park Tonight, Wed., May 6!
The
Rapid Learning Whitewater Kayaking Program will move outdoors to Chester Frost County Park on Wed., May 6, with two sessions:

Youth Triathlon 101 May 7
The
Chattanooga Triathlon Club will host a free, family workshop on how to get kids involved with the sport of triathlon on
Thurs., May 7, from
6 to 7:30 p.m. at Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St. in Coolidge Park. Find out how triathlon's operate, equipment needs, training, where to find local races and more. Space is limited and reservations are recommended. To make a reservation,

*Stringers Ridge Family Pump Track Day May 12
Bring the kids and participate in our
Stringers Ridge Family Pump Track Fun Day, happening
Tues., May 12, from
4:30 to 6 p.m., at the Spears Ave. trailhead of Stringers Ridge Park. Outdoor Chattanooga staff will work with the whole family to learn and practice riding the pump track. The skills learned will help riders have fun and ride more safely on area mountain bike trails. No reservations are necessary. Kids should be able to ride with pedals and without training wheels. *Free Workshop: Yoga for Runners May 14
The Chattanooga Track Club will host a free workshop,
Yoga for Runners, on
Thurs., May 14, from
5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St. in Coolidge Park. The beginner friendly workshop will be led by yoga instructor and marathoner Hillary Libby. All interested members of the public are invited. Refreshments will be served.
*Orchard Knob Bike Ride May 16
Outdoor Chattanooga will host a
guided bike ride to Orchard Knob Reservation on
Sat. May 16, from
9:30-11:30 a.m. Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park Service interpretive rangers will share the story of the battle of Orchard Knob. The trip is open to adults and kids ages 12 and older when accompanied by an adult. Participants may bring their own bicycle or borrow a bicycle from Outdoor Chattanooga.
