May League Of Women Voters Program Features Kerry Steelman

  • Friday, May 8, 2015

The Chattanooga members-at-large Unit of the League of Women Voters of Tennessee will continue its schedule of programs on Monday, May 18, with a presentation by Hamilton County Administrator of Elections Kerry Steelman on elections, voters’ and voting issues.

Said Joan Hamner, president of the local LWV unit, “The League of Women Voters was founded in 1920, six months before women got the right to vote. Their purpose focused on women’s issues, voter registration, and education of those who vote. Steelman will educate the local LVW members and guests about Hamilton County’s voter registration process and how elections are run.” The program will start promptly at 5:30 p.m.

Interested individuals do not have to be LWV members to attend the program. However, the local unit is continuing to recruit members, and applications will be available at the meeting.

The monthly meetings of the LWV have been moved from the Downtown Library to the Board Room of the Business Development Center, 100 Cherokee Blvd. Park in the Renaissance Park parking lot across the street or use street parking, not the BDC’s lot.
