Travis Smith Charged With Assaulting A Postal Worker

Travis G. Smith has been arrested for punching a postal worker in the face, said Chattanooga Police. 

 

The police were called to the hospital Saturday morning where they spoke with Walter Lawrence.  Mr. Lawrence was delivering mail in the area of 2600 Long St. when Smith became enraged over a package which was supposed to have been delivered to his residence.

 Police said Smith approached Mr. Lawrence and began punching him in the face.   

 

Mr. Lawrence sustained serious injuries during the attack but was able to drive himself to a local hospital for treatment. 

 

Chattanooga Police Officers arrested Smith on a warrant for aggravated assault. 

 

Inspectors with the United States Postal Inspection Services are also involved with the investigation and federal charges may be forthcoming against Smith.
