Attention Riverbend fanatics: The Human Beat Box, Doug E. Fresh, and rapper/hip hop star Slick Rick reunite for a performance on Riverbend’s Coca-Cola stage at 6:30 p.m. When Riverbend asked Power 94 the artist they would like to see at Riverbend, Doug E. Fresh immediately rose to the top of the list. When the name Slick Rick was added, it became a “must-do” show. Celebrating their 35th year as Power 94, WJTT assisted Riverbend in securing the show for their anniversary, as well as helping to secure Chubb Rock for Saturday night.

A little later in the evening, rocker/guitarist Melissa Etheridge will bring her unique voice and guitar licks to the Coke Stage at 9:30 p.m. With 15 Grammy nominations, an Oscar for Best Original Song in a movie, and numerous other awards, Dr. Etheridge received an honorary doctorate from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. She also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Bud Light Stage features some dynamite entertainment of its own on Wednesday, as the Reluctant Saints open at 6:00 p.m., followed by Ozomatli at 8 p.m. Ozomatli is not only on my picks of the day list; it is on my pick of the festival list. They have the Grammy’s at home to back up my praise, too. Carlos Santana liked them. The President of the United States liked them. Coachella, SXSW, and Bonnaroo liked them. Bob Payne likes them. That should be enough to get you out to hear the Latin infused band that wrote Dodgertown for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Uh oh. Mission control, we have a conflict. At 6:30 p.m. on the Unum Stage, The Megaphones become another “must-see” show, followed by yet another one at 8:00 p.m. when The Malemen Band takes the stage. The Greg Shirley Band offers an excellent alternative rock and hip hop with genuine Country music at 9:30 p.m. The Megaphones bring Nashville’s most serious horn players in for a fun set. Don’t miss it!

Three super choices exist on the TVFCU Stage, with Krystye Dalton Band at 6:15 p.m., Ben Miller Band at 7:45 p.m. and Fruition at 9:15 p.m. Fruition was handpicked by Jeff Styles, so you can bet they are excellent.

The Chevy Stage gets a real treat tonight, as opener Hank & Cupcakes blow the tent walls off with a 2 piece band that rocks enough to sell out Rhythm & Brews a couple of times. They go on at 6:15 p.m. Another special treat is served up in the Chevy Stage tent, when Wade Trammell Band brings special guest Kelley Lovelace to Riverbend. Lovelace has written not one, but several number 1’s for Brad Paisley and others. Most people dream of having a number one hit – Kelley Lovelace must dream of having dozens.
