Here Come The Mummies
Here Come The Mummies

My favorite day and most dreaded day are upon us. It is my favorite day because it’s the final one. It’s over and I will get some rest. It’s my most dreaded day because it’s over and I will start to long for next year, tomorrow. By all measurements, the 2015 Riverbend Festival was a success. The “experiment” of having two shows on the Coke Stage worked. I am glad I had a small part in it, but the truth be known, it never would have happened if not for a couple of mitigating factors. Another person was really the one that thought it up. We were talking after last year’s festival and he suggested it. I just ran with his idea. Another factor is the board of directors of the festival would never have bought the idea if it were not for the confidence level they have in the Riverbend staff to pull it off. Simply put, they are the “best in the business” and they earn it every day.

Tonight we get to see the undead invade Chattanooga and the Coke Stage. It’s been a while since Here Come The Mummies have been to the town that loves them the most. They haunt the Coke Stage beginning at 6:30 p.m. For pure musical enjoyment and entertainment, they cannot be beat.

I wouldn’t want to follow that act, but Stone Temple Pilots thinks they can pull it off. Now featuring Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, Stone Temple Pilots will rock the waterfront until it explodes with the best fireworks display in the Southeast.

At 8 p.m. on the Bud Light Stage, Rapper/Hip Hop master Chubb Rock will put some old school entertainment on the Bud Stage. Brightside, the Venice, California based band will open at 6 p.m.

Over in the new Chevy Stage tent, one of Chattanooga’s favorites, Nick Lutsko performs at 6:15, followed by one of my favorites, Rock Skool of Chattanooga. I cannot confirm or deny rumors that stage manager Hayes Taylor will join the group as the accordion player. The Rajun Cajun form Baton Rouge allegedly will dress as Gene Simmons.

On the Unum Stage, Natural Habitz opens at 6:30 p.m., followed by the group with the most unusual name, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong brings their electro-funk groove to Riverbend from 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.

Great music abounds tonight on the TVFCU Stage. Scarlet Love Conspiracy begins the night at 6:15 p.m., followed by the all-female rockers the Dead Deads at 7:45 p.m. 8TRK closes at 9:15 p.m.

Fireworks are immediately following Stone Temple Pilots show, scheduled to end around 11 p.m. Do not miss the waterfall! Keep an eye out for my annual Riverbend Report Card, which I will post in a few days.

If you are looking for me tonight, I will be at Here Come The Mummies, Rock Skool, and 8TRK.

See you there!
