BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -  Monday afternoon, despite a supportive home crowd of 5,584 in attendance for the businessman special, the Lookouts defeated the Barons, 4-1 and also claimed the series 4-1.

Inning-by-inning game recap

Chattanooga (39-24) moved within two games of claiming a first-half crown in the Southern League North Division. The Barons (30-34) dropped their fourth consecutive decision at home to the Lookouts.

The Lookouts pounded out 14 hits. The Barons had just four hits. Chattanooga improved their record to an impressive 15 games over .500. After losing the first four games of June, Chattanooga has won 10 of their last 11 games.

Former Lookouts coach and manager, Jamie Dismuke, is the third man from the right.

Lookouts starting pitcher Greg Peavey (6-2, 4.66 ERA) allowed just three hits through eight innings and struck out five en route to the win, and reliever Zack Jones picked up his ninth save.

Opposing pitcher, Tyler Barnette (2-3, 1.60 ERA) was charged with the loss. The right-hander gave up just two runs, but the offense did not do Barnette any favors in his fifth start of the season.

A day after watching Byron Buxton make his big league debut Sunday, Miguel Sano wanted to make sure that Twins' fans didn't forget about him. Sano is one of baseball's best prospects remaining in the Minor Leagues after a number of call-ups at the beginning of this season.

In his last ten games, Sano is hitting .312 with two home runs, two doubles, 10 runs scored, and five RBI. Entering play Monday's game, he was hitting .257/.358/.505 with 11 home runs and 12 doubles. His OBP is than his batting average but that's been a trend for him throughout the minor leagues.

Miguel Sano cracked his 12th home run of the season Monday.

Sano finished the day 1-for-4 with a walk. Adam Brett Walker and Max Kepler both went 4-for-5, two of Walker's hits were doubles. Stephen Wickens only managed one hit but he collected three steals in the game including a steal of home.

Birmingham was held to just six runs over the five-game set. Monday's contest was the second game of the home stand the Lookouts limited Birmingham to one run.

Picking up one run on four hits, the only tally mark for the Barons came in the eighth inning as first baseman Chris Curley laced a line-drive home run.

Devon Davis was brought on to close out the game in the eighth and ninth, but was welcomed into the game by  Sano with a solo home run.
