Temporary Trail Closure At Lookout Mountain Battlefield Announced

  • Friday, June 19, 2015

Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park is advising the public that a portion of the Mountain Beautiful Trail will be temporarily closed on Monday, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. In case of inclement weather, work will begin on Tuesday. During this closure the park will repair the handrails leading up from the Mountain Beautiful Trail to the Ochs Museum inside Point Park.

Due to welding and project work, a portion of the Mountain Beautiful Trail will be closed to the public.

The portion of affected trail is on the Western side of Lookout Mountain directly below Point Park, from the intersection of the Mountain Beautiful and Cravens House trails to the Mountain Beautiful Trail and the Mountain Beautiful Trail Extension. Barricades will be posted during this closure.

For more information about the trails at Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, contact the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center at 706 866-9241, the Lookout Mountain Battlefield Visitor Center at 423 821-7786, or visit the park’s website at www.nps.gov/chch.
