Antonio Romero Roberts has been charged with rape and false imprisonment after a woman said he raped her inside her home.

She said, after she had invited the 37-year-old Roberts to her house, he started asking her for sex. She said she refused several times, saying she had a new boyfriend and was trying to straighten up her life.

The woman said Roberts told her, "if you don't give it to me, I'm gonna take from you. I'm gonna rape you." She said he then began struggling with her. She said when she fought back he began strangling her and hit her in the head, face and neck.

The woman said she finally gave in because she was afraid he might kill her. She said she screamed for help and asked the caretaker for her grandmother to call police.

The grandmother said Roberts refused to leave after the sex was over. Officers got no response when they arrived, and they had to take the hinges off the front door to get in.

Police said the woman frantically ran to them, displaying scratches to her neck and throat. Some of her fingernails had been ripped off.

Roberts had injuries, including a scratched eye.

The woman said at one point she hit him in the head with a hair dryer.
