Police said Christopher Logan Brock went on a rampage against his 14-year-old stepson after going into a rage over some missing keys.

Brock, 38, is charged with aggravated child abuse.

In an incident last Friday, the boy was taken to Children's Hospital with numerous bruises on his back, arms and legs as well as a mark on his forehead.

The boy said when the keys could not be found Brock began flipping couches, throwing mattresses on the floor and dumping drawers on the floor from dressers.

He then hit the child repeatedly with a cable for a video game, punched him, and beat his head against the floor. He also threw items at him. One item hit him, causing swelling on his right arm.

The boy fled through a bathroom window and went to a neighbor's house to call police.

He said his step-father told him that if he did not do what he was asked he would continue to be beaten until he went to work the following Monday.

Brock denied harming the boy, saying only that he had been "grounded" for bad grades.
