Cleveland “Dick” Craighead, Jr. died on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at a local health care facility.
He was born Sept. 14, 1946, in Huntsville, Al., to the late Cleveland Craighead, Sr. and Evelina Battle Craighead. Cleveland was a veteran of the United States Army. Upon his retirement from the Army, he became employed with the U.S. Postal Service and retired after more than 30 years of service as a letter carrier.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter; a sister, Carolyn Taylor and a brother, Willie James Craighead.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Arnita R. Craighead of Tampa, FL; his son, Adrian Craighead of Chattanooga; sisters, Annie (John) Talley of Conyers, GA, and Margaret “Ree” McCorkle of Chattanooga; devoted nephews, James “Mann” Taylor and Isaiah Craighead of Chattanooga and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation is on Thursday, June 4, from 6-8 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5, at 10 a.m. in the chapel with Reverend Clark Williams officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
