Tarek Baker, 36, Shot In Alton Park Early Tuesday Morning

Tarek Baker, 36, was shot early Tuesday morning. At approximately 1:44 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to the 3800 block of Fagan Street for a person shot.

Mr. Baker stated he was walking down W. 41st Street when an unknown suspect leaned out of a moving vehicle and began shooting. Officers later discovered a crime scene at 100 W. 41st Street.

Mr. Baker was transported by HCEMS to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Chattanooga Police later spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle fled into Georgia where one suspect, who is a minor, was apprehended.

The suspect who is in custody was charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Investigators with the Chattanooga Police Department Violent Crimes Bureau are following leads on other potential suspects.

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this crime to call 423-698-2525. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
