Rep. Tom Graves Votes To Protect Seniors’ Access To Medicare

  • Tuesday, June 23, 2015
Rep. Tom Graves issued the following statement Tuesday after voting in favor of the Protecting Seniors’ Access to Medicare Act (H.R. 1190), legislation repealing the Independent Payment Advisory Board, also known as the “death panel:”

“Repealing Obamacare’s Independent Payment Advisory Board will help protect seniors’ access to Medicare. The Board is comprised of unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats, who are charged with making cuts to Medicare. We absolutely need to modernize entitlements, but we cannot have unaccountable bureaucrats slicing and dicing a critical program that seniors throughout Georgia earned, paid for and depend upon.”

H.R.
1190 passed the House by a vote of 244 to 154.

Previously, Rep. Graves voted to cut IPAB’s funding by $10 million. That cut was signed into law late last year.
