A man and a woman were shot in separate incidents in Chattanooga early Sunday morning.
Police said they did not know if the incidents were related.
At approximately 2:58 a.m., the Chattanooga Police Department responded to a local hospital for a person shot.
The victim, Charles Melton, 18, said he was a passenger in a vehicle traveling in the 2100 block of Wilder Street. He said the driver of a passing vehicle brandished a firearm and began shooting. Mr. Melton was struck by the gunfire and transported via personal vehicle to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
No suspect information is available.
At approximately 3:19 a.m., the Chattanooga Police Department responded to 4700 Midland Pike for a person shot.
The victim, Regina Hughes, 67, said she was asleep in her residence when she woke up to a sharp pain and then heard multiple gunshots coming from outside.
Ms. Hughes was struck by the gunfire and transported by HCEMS to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
No suspect information is available.
