James A. “Jim” Dodson, 77, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015.
He was born on June 12, 1938 to the late Pauline Witt. He was a lifelong resident of this area. Jim was a veteran of the United States Air Force, graduate of The University of Tennessee at Knoxville, and a long time educator in this area. Jim taught at Cleveland State, Cleveland High School, and Charleston High School. He was also a business owner and bus contractor. He is a member of North Cleveland Church of God. Jim was a loving, generous, and kind man. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding motorcyles.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gracie Dodson; daughters, Marilyn Gallatin and Marion Dianne Neely; grandchildren, James Gallatin, Destiny Dodson and Andrew Neely; great- granddaughter, Kyla Gallatin; special friends, Johnny Taylor, Tec Webb, Conner Jones, Brenda and Clifford Norwood; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
The family would also like to thank Signature Health Care of Cleveland for their exemplary care and compassion.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 29, at Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown RD NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. A private family interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 29.
