East Ridge Police Department Implements Body Worn Camera Program For Police Officers

  • Wednesday, June 3, 2015

The East Ridge Police Department has started to implement a Body Worn Camera program for all patrol officers. Training began this week to familiarize the officers with the uses and features of the BWCs. A small portion of those trained will begin utilizing the BWCs immediately, while the rest of the department will roll out with their BWCs in stages.

Body Worn Cameras have been featured in the media recently due to high profile cases that involved alleged police misconduct during incidents and arrests.

These cameras offer the police departments with an addition ability to review video during those interactions with the public in which accusations against an officer could occur.
