Joseph Lynn Phelps, 66 of Dalton, Georgia, died on Thursday June 4, 2015 at the local hospital.
Joseph was born on June 1, 1949 in Bowling Green, KY to the late Sherman and Donnie Phelps; and was also proceeded in death by his sisters, Mable Jane Tracey and Molly Phelps.
Mr. Joseph Lynn Phelps was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and worked as a fireman while enlisted.
Mr. Joseph Lynn Phelps is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Phelps; daughters, Laura Phelps of Dalton and Amy and Jason Carter of Chatsworth; brothers, Ronell and Wilda Alford of Bowling Green, KY; sisters, Caroline Owens of Las Vegas, NV and Norman Frances Wilson of Louisville, KY; and grandchildren, Amber Phelps, Brianna Carter, Hallie Carter and Destini Carter.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Joseph Lynn Phelps will be held Tuesday, June 9, at 12 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend June Parker. He will be laid to rest at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 112 of Dalton, GA.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Tuesday, June 9.
