Theft charges were bound to the Grand Jury on Monday against two females charged with stealing a bag of items from the Lakeside Marina.

General Sessions Court Judge Gary Starnes dismissed a second charge - conspiracy to commit theft - against Brandie Golden, 36, and Heather Whitener, 24, saying he did not find proof that they planned the theft.

In the incident on May 17, Gary Riggs said the pair came inside requesting to buy some items. He said a short time after they left he noticed that a leather bag containing some of his personal items was missing from the counter. After making a search and also checking his vehicle, he called police.

The bag contained his ID, Social Security card, medication and a prescription.

Police were told that the pair had gone on to Ari's Restaurant nearby and that they were in a white Honda Accord. Police spotted the Honda and stopped it. The Riggs' Social Security card and two banks cards were found in the vehicle.

Police said, when interviewed, the two women blamed each other for the theft.

The leather bag had been thrown out of the window, it was stated.

At the jail during a strip search, drugs were found in the vagina of both women. Ms. Whitener had two syringes, marijuana and several plastic baggies of drugs and Ms. Golden had vitamins and legend drugs hidden in an Altoid can and a clear plastic baggie.
