Retired From TVA After 30 Years

William "Bill" Carl Ludwig, 71, of Ooltewah, died on Thursday, July 9, 2015 in a local hospice center.

A longtime resident of Hamilton County and was a graduate of Georgia Tech where he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. Bill retired from TVA after over 30 years of service and at the time of his retirement was working at the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant and Watts Bar Nuclear Plant.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a former president of the girls softball association at the East Brainerd ball fields. Bill served on the board and was treasurer at St. Matthews Shelter.

Bill was a member of St. Martin Episcopal Church for 25 years and for the past 14 years has been an active member at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where he served a church verger.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon Harrison Ludwig;  daughters, Michelle (Chad) Herring, Acworth, Ga., and Alison (Steve) Brown, Ooltewah;  three grandchildren, Emma Elizabeth Wiginton, Aubrey Anne Herring and Jacob Alexander Wiginton; two brothers, David (Kate) Ludwig, Lake Oswego, Or., and Mark (Marjorie Pitz) Ludwig, St. Paul, Mn.; nephew, Michael Ludwig and  nieces, Mackenzie Ludwig, Sarah Ludwig.

Services will be held on Monday, July 13, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with burial to follow in the church gardens. Officiating will be the Reverend Leigh C. Preston, the Reverend F. Quinn Parman, and the Reverend Ann G. Weeks.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga 4411 Oakwood Dr., Chattanooga, Tn. 37411, St. Matthew’s Shelter, 700 Pine Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37402 or the Book of Remembrance at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 305 W. 7th Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37402.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 12, from 4-7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd and on Monday one hour before the service at St. Paul’s Church.
