Julia Christine Fultz White, 92, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, died on Thursday, July 9, 2015 in a Chattanooga health care facility. 

Born in South Pittsburg to the late Henry and Lucille Lamberson Fultz, she attended McReynolds High School in South Pittsburg and was salutatorian of her graduating class.  She continued her education at Tennessee A&I State University (now Tennessee State University) in Nashville and then attended Madam C. J. Walker’s Beauty School where she received the training for her career as a beautician. 

During World War II, Julia worked in Tullahoma, Tn., and Worchester, Ma., supporting the war effort.  Upon her return to South Pittsburg, she assisted Dr. Hiram Beene Moore as a midwife for many years and also worked at the South Pittsburg Hospital, and later at the clinic.

Julia was baptized into Mount Bethlehem Baptist Church in South Pittsburg during the horse and buggy days.  She continued to be a very active member of the church until her health prevented her from attending.  She was also very civically active in South Pittsburg, having served as President of the Democratic Women’s Club, and as a member of the NAACP.  She was also a very active member of the Home Demonstration Club in Marion County.

She lived in the Chester Powell Senior Apartments for 18 years, before moving to the Martin Boyd Christian Home in Chattanooga where she lived for 5 years until she moved to NHC of Chattanooga.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Andrew White, Jr, sister and brother-in-law, Bennie Mae and Howard Patton of Dayton, OH and brother, Charles B. Fultz of Harrisburg, PA.

She is survived by dear cousins, Billie Anne Jordan Wylie of Chattanooga, and Ken Jordan of Las Vegas, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Thursday, July 16, at noon Central time with Reverend Paul Robinson officiating. 

Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1:30 CT (2:30 p.m. Eastern) on Thursday, July 16.

The family will gather with friends for visitation on Wednesday, July 15, from 5–7 p.m. CT and on Thursday, July 16 from 11 a.m. until service time at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
