The Tennessee Road Builders Association recently honored its contractors for their high-quality work with its Smooth Paving and Greatest Improvement awards.
The Smooth Paving Awards are based on the rideability of asphalt pavement as determined by the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Each year, Smooth Paving Awards are given in each of the state’s four TDOT regions in two categories: small projects, those costing less than $1.5 million, and large projects, costing more than $1.5 million.
The Greatest Improvement Awards are given to companies that have completed a resurfacing job and had the greatest improvement in the average rideability, regardless of project size.
“Many of this year’s recipients are second- or third-time winners in their categories, and this goes to show that we have exceptional contractors in our state who are committed to providing a smooth ride for the motorists who use our state’s highways,” said Kent Starwalt, executive vice president of TRBA. “We are proud to recognize these TRBA members for their high-quality work on Tennessee’s roads in 2014.”
