Chattanooga State Community College faculty and staff welcomed new president, Dr. Flora Tydings, to the campus during a reception in her honor Tuesday afternoon. Dr. Tydings, the former president at Athens Technical College in Northeast Georgia, is the fourth person to assume presidential leadership.
“I am excited to be a part of this wonderful college as we celebrate our 50th anniversary. I look forward to the next 50 years of growth and opportunity for students and the community,” said Dr. Tydings during the reception.
Officials said she is committed to serving students, faculty and staff, and brings a proven track record with her. Dr. Tydings said, “faculty and staff must be the driving force behind change – they hold the experience and expertise to enact change.”
She is a strong supporter of business and educational partnerships, and workforce development issues rank high on her priorities as well, officials said.
Dr. Tydings is actively involved in community, civic and professional organizations and looks forward to continuing that tradition in Chattanooga.
