Jones Raulston Title Insurance Agency Inc. Receives ALTA Best Practices Certification

  • Thursday, July 16, 2015

Jones Raulston Title Insurance Agency, Inc. of Chattanooga, received the ALTA Best Practices Certification.  ALTA, which stands for the American Land Title Association, has encouraged lenders to adjust their relationships with service providers and be more sensitive to the types of companies with whom they do business.

To help meet this need, ALTA created the Best Practices framework to help members highlight policies and procedures the industry exercises to protect lenders and consumers, while ensuring a positive and compliant real estate settlement experience.  The ALTA certification has a membership span of two years and with it, Jones Raulston can affirmatively show it is adhering to all of the operational policies and procedures that reflect the best practices.

"There are a number of title and settlement service companies out there claiming to be 'certified' in ALTA's Best Practices, but a number of those certifications are either self-proclaimed or provided by third parties that lack the credentials of an established compliance audit firm. Several companies are obtaining a review, which is substantially less in scope than a certification and offers no assurance of compliance. Lenders and consumers should only accept a certification from their settlement providers as the new standard for doing business," said Web Raulston, vice president of Jones Raulston.

Officials said, "Jones Raulston employees have faithfully served clients throughout Tennessee and Georgia with passion and the utmost professionalism for the past 35 years. With this certification, Jones Raulston is the first and currently only certified title insurance company in the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas, ensuring that it will continue to be the standard for title insurance companies for years to come."
