One of the military personnel killed at the Naval and Marine Operations Center in Thursday's tragic shooting has been identified as Chattanoogan David Wyatt, who left behind a wife and two children.

He and his wife, Lorri, had been married since December 2004.

Staff Sergeant Wyatt was originally from Russellville, Ark., and he went to college in Montana.

A sheriff's officer was guarding the Wyatt home on Kingsridge Drive in Hixson on Friday.

Another was Thomas Sullivan, who had survived two tours of duty in Iraq and earned a Purple Heart.

Family members said he was one of those "who died in a domestic terrorist attack at the hands of a madman in Chattanooga, Tennessee," according to MassLive.

He was from Springfield, Mass. The flag in front of city hall at Springfield was lowered to half staff on Friday.

Four Marines were gunned down, and authorities said Thursday night a fifth person at the scene was very seriously injured.

The shooter, Muhammad Youssef Abdullazeez, was killed after ramming his rented convertible Mustang into a fence at the center by the Riverpark.

The 40-year-old Sullivan was one of three children of Jerry and Betty Sullivan. He graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield.

He had visited his parents at Hampden, Mass., a few days ago, the newspaper said.

His brother, Joe Sullivan, owns Nathan Bill's Bar & Restaurant in the East Forest Park neighborhood where the brothers grew up.

Another Marine who was killed was Skip Wells from Marietta, Ga. He had finished boot camp about a year earlier.

He was a graduate of Sprayberry High School in Cobb County and had enrolled at Georgia Southern University before deciding to join the military.

His girlfriend, Caroline Dove, told CNN that he texted him "active shooter" and then "I love you." She said the communication stopped and she kept trying to reach him. She said, "I kept saying I love you." She said his mother then sent her an article about four Marines being killed at Chattanooga. She said she did not learn for sure that he had been killed until Friday morning.

She said he had been stationed at Chattanooga about a year. They met at Georgia Southern. She said she had planned to visit him next week. She said she now plans to become a Marine and serve for him.

Also killed was Carson Holmquist, a 27-year-old Marine who was born and raised in Grantsburg, Wis.

His Facebook page showed a number of photos with his wife and young son, including one where they had counted down the days until his return from duty. In another photo, he was shooting a rifle with his son by him.

One of the wounded was Randall Smith, who is from Paulding, Ohio, according to Knoxville TV station WTLV. He was working in Chattanooga as a Navy logistics specialist.

The report cited his mother, Paula Proxmire, who now lives in Delphos, Kan.

Chattanooga Police Officer Dennis Pedigo was shot in the ankle and is recovering at Erlanger Hospital.

Meanwhile, it was learned that Abdullazeez had been working as a shift supervisor at Superior Essex in Franklin, Tn.

The FBI made a safety sweep of the facility.

Abdullazeez had an engineering degree from UTC.

Essex designs and produces wire and cable products.
