World War II Veteran Retired From Quaker Oats After 33 Years

William Earl Presley, 93, of Apison, Tennessee, died on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.

A lifelong resident of Apison, he was the son of the late Ossie and Dora Presley. Earl was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He was retired from Quaker Oats with 33 years of service.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florene Presley; two daughters, Pamela K. Presley and Shirley W. Boring; grandson, Michael E. Boring; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Vicki (Ricky) Teague and Sandra (James) Walker, all of Apison; son, Millard E. (Robbie) Presley, Chattanooga; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jesse Cochran, Apison and Mary Tillman, Ringgold; brother, Harrell Presley, Ringgold.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, in the Valley View Chapel with the Reverend Richard Jones officiating. Interment will be in Plowman Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions may be made to the Fairview Baptist Church, 6807 Snow Hill Road, Ooltewah, Tn. 37363 or to the American Cancer Society at: cancer.org.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
