Antonio Francisco Elrod, 19, of Doe Trail, Resaca, was arrested on Wednesday on child molestation charges.

Last Saturday, the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a possible child molestation involving a seven-year-old boy.

A parent of the child informed officers that he had reason to suspect a family relative had been sexually molesting the child.

An investigation was initiated and the child was taken to a medical facility for examination.

During the investigation, evidence was developed to indicate the child was being molested by the offender, police said.

Investigators determined the child had been periodically visiting with relatives and believed the molestation was an on-going occurrence.

On Wednesday, Elrod was arrested and charged with aggravated child molestation. He is currently being held in the Whitfield County Jail without bond.

During the investigation detectives discovered evidence to indicate there may be other juvenile victims involving Elrod, it was stated.

Anyone with information concerning Elrod is asked to contact the Detective Division of the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office at 706 278-3029.
