Change Of Location For Saturday's Move For The Health Of It 5k Run And 1-Mile Fun Walk

  • Wednesday, July 22, 2015

Due to the tragic events in Chattanooga last Thursday, officials have changed the packet pickup location and routes for the Move for the Health of it 1-mile and 5K run. Officials said, "Fortunately, it is still along the Tennessee Riverpark, just in a different area."

Packet pick-up and pre-registration begins Friday, from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the Amnicola Marsh Meeting room.

From downtown, it is on a road off of Amnicola Highway right before the Greater Chattanooga Association of Realtors and directly across from 2830 Amnicola Highway. There will be a red balloon at the road.

On Saturday, the start/finish line will be at Shelter 2 near the Chickamauga dam. From 153 turn left (traffic light) off the Amnicola exit, you will see another traffic light, go through the traffic light and make a right at the first road. Look for red and black balloons and signs. It will take you around to Shelter 2.

The 1-mile participants will have a 15 minute delay starting at 8:15 a.m. This will allow separation between the walkers and runners along the path. Each route is different, but in the beginning there is a bit of an overlap. The 5k participants will begin at 8 a.m.

Officials have disabled the chip timing active.com as there will not be any chip timing, but there will be time cards to determine the age group and overall male and female awards. Those who did purchase chip timing will receive a $2 refund at packet pickup (must pick up in person). Participants are welcome to donate the additional $2 for this fundraiser.

Officials said, "We apologize for these last minute changes but we are committed to giving you a great experience despite the tragedy and focus on moving for your health! If for any reason the original location of the race along TN Riverpark opens, we will notify all participants via email that we will move the race back to its original location."
