Outdoor Chattanooga Featured Event
*Downtown Kayak Adventure July 25
Join Outdoor Chattanooga for a beginner friendly kayak tour of downtownChattanooga on the Tennessee River.
Our guide staff will provide basic instruction, then lead a leisurely paddle from the north shore around landmarks such as Audubon Island/ Wildlife Sanctuary, the Bluff View Arts District, Ross' Landing and downtown's historic bridges. All equipment is provided by the 
Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga, including our stable 12 foot recreational kayaks. Adults and kids ages 8 and older are welcome. Paddlers ages 8-13 must paddle in tandem with an adult (limit: 2 kid spaces per trip). Cost is $35 for Adults / $25 for kids ages 8-13. RESERVATIONS are REQUIRED in advance. Rapid Learning Roll Class - Tonight, Wed., July 22
The Rapid Learning Whitewater Kayaking Program will be at Chester Frost County Park every Wed. with two sessions: 6 and 7 p.m., just past the park swimming area. Interested members of the public can come to either session and try the program for free. If you decide to continue, you can join the program and access equipment and instruction all year round. *Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga 2.4 mile Open Water Swim August 15
Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga will host a 2.4 mile open water-down river swim on the Tennessee River on Sat., Aug. 15. This is not a race or a timed event. It is a piloted practice swim for those interested in swimming in open waters. Swimmers will board the Southern Belle River Boat located at Ross's Landing in Downtown Chattanooga at7:30 a.m. and head upstream 2.4 miles. Swimmers will enter the water and swim down river, back to Ross's Landing. Cost is $60 per person. Registration deadline is Fri., Aug. 14. Race check in starts at 6:45 a.m. and the swim starts at 8 a.m. on Aug. 15. Lunch will be provided to volunteers and support boaters at 11 a.m. on the 3rd deck burger bar on the Southern Belle after the swim. Open water swimming is not for beginners. *Chattanooga Freedom Float August 15
Join Outdoor Chattanooga and the boating community for a Freedom Float on Sat., Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. in honor of and to raise money for the heroes who were injured and killed in the attacks in Chattanooga last week. We will put in at theTennessee Riverpark and float down to the Chattanooga Riverfront, where participants can stay to enjoy the Riverfront Nights Free Music Series. Outdoor Chattanooga will provide shuttling to get all participants shuttled with their kayaks back to the Riverpark after the event is done. *Movie in the Park July 25

Families are invited to come out to Coolidge Park this Sat., July 25 beginning at 8:30 p.m. to see a free movie in the park offered by First Things First in partnership with the City of Chattanooga. Families are encouraged to bring their own blankets, lawn chairs, and strollers to enjoy the free movie at sundown on an inflatable screen. In case of inclement weather, be sure to tune in to Sunny 92.3 FM for the latest weather updates.

*SUP Sunset Paddle with Lights July 24, 25, 31 and Aug. 1
L2 Outside offers a sunset SUP journey on the Tennessee River on Friday & Saturdaynights (July 24, 25, 31 and August 1) from 8-9:30 p.m. Rental fee is $35 per person which includes board, paddle, safety gear & lights. Single & Tandem Kayaks are also available, but limited. Reservations are required in advance and can be made onlineor by calling (423) 531-7873.

*FREE Yoga Outdoors @ The River Market July 25
The Chattanooga Yoga Community leads a free yoga session every Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Tennessee Aquarium Plaza during the River Market season, which runs through mid September. Admission is free, and beginners are welcome to join to learn more about yoga.  Please bring your own mat.  In the event of rain this class will be cancelled. 

Wild Trails-Still Hollow Trail Race August 1


The Still Hollow Trail Race is a part of the Wild Trails race series and will be held onSat. Aug. 1 at 7:30 a.m. at Enterprise South Nature Park. Racers can choose to run the 1/2 Marathon or 10K distance. Race proceeds benefit Wild Trails, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the use, protection and expansion of nature trails in the greater Chattanooga area. Registration deadline is Tues. July 28 


2 State/4 County Pedaling for Prevention Bike Race August 1
The 2nd annual 2 State/4 County Pedaling for Prevention Bike Race will be held on Sat., Aug. 1 at 8 a.m. The race will start at Coahulla Creek High School in Dalton, GA and follow the scenic TN/GA Border. The race offers 35, 62, 68 and 100 mile options as well as a 5K and 8K running event. The race is for serious or casual riders, with well marked courses, chip timing, sag support, door prizes, and t- shirts. Lunch will be served to racers as they complete the course from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Coahulla Creek High School. Race proceeds benefit  Prison Prevention Ministries, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works to prevent youth from entering prison and prevent inmates from returning to prison. 
RainSmart Workshop August 1
The City of Chattanooga Water Quality Program is offering a free RainSmart Workshop on Sat., Aug. 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The free workshop is intended for Chattanooga Homeowners who want to learn to design and install home rain gardens and rain barrels. The workshop will be held at 1514 13th St., Chattanooga, TN, a 1920's Highland Park Home. Attending this free workshop would be the first step for those interested in applying for the RainSmart payback program for project reimbursement. Pre-registration is required and lunch will be provided. To Register, email Wyn Miller with the subject heading "AUG 1 2015 Workshop Registration" and provide answers to the following questions:
