Bike Chattanooga Celebrates 3rd Birthday With Free Memberships To Chattanooga Residents

  • Thursday, July 23, 2015

The City of Chattanooga’s Bike Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System invites the public to help celebrate its third year of operations in the Scenic City with a celebration at the Nightfall Concert Series on Friday, from 7-9 p.m. The community is invited to join Bike Chattanooga at Miller Park to enjoy Bike Chattanooga themed cupcakes, free bicycle valet service provided by BikeWalk Chattanooga, live music, and a member mix and mingle.

To introduce locals to the convenience of using Chattanooga’s Bike Share System, the City of Chattanooga, Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee Health Foundation are launching Activate Chattanooga to provide free annual memberships to Chattanooga residents. Free memberships have a $5 key activation charge at the time of sign up. The free annual membership offer is good while supplies last and available to new Bike Chattanooga members only who reside in the City of Chattanooga. To show appreciation of existing annual members, Activate Chattanooga will add a year to existing member accounts for $25. Members will simply login into their Bike Chattanooga account and renew their current membership at half the regular price.

Officials said, “CDOT wants all Chattanoogans to have a Bike Chattanooga Key in their pockets as a constant reminder of the availability of biking as an efficient and healthy way to complete trips around town.  We are excited that The Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga are making this possible with financial support of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Tennessee Health Foundation.”

Instructions on how to redeem the Free Activate Chattanooga Annual Memberships may be picked up on Friday at Nightfall during the birthday celebration event. The Chattanooga community will have the option to sign-up for their membership at the event or at a later time by going to www.bikechattanooga.com/signup and creating a new account under the Activate Chattanooga Membership type. A credit/debit card must be used to secure an annual membership and a $5 processing fee will be charged at time of transaction.
