Marinell Acuff
Marinell Acuff, 94, died on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loving family, who sang and prayed her into the arms of Jesus.
"Nell" as she was known by family and friends, was born in Cordele, Ga., but moved to Chattanooga at an early age. She had lived in Harrison for the past six years and was a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church of Cleveland, Tn.
Nell was an avid student of the Bible and taught Sunday School for many years. She had a beautiful alto voice, and sang in church choirs, duets and trios. A talented seamstress, she was also a wonderful cook and home maker.
Most of all, she will be remembered for her kind, sweet spirit and her love for everyone.
The highlight of Nell's life was a trip to the Holy Land, where she was baptized in the Jordan River. She never stopped telling people about that experience.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Allen Acuff, three sisters, and one brother.
She is survived by her three daughters: Clara Lois Black of Cleveland, Alice (David) Giles of Harrison, Sybil (Ray) Wilson of Chickamauga; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Sunday, July 26, at 2 p.m. with Reverend Clay Lynch and Josh Hill officiating. The interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens East.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, at the funeral home.
