Sara (Granny) Oster, 82, died, surrounded by family and friends. 

“Sassy” as she was known by family, was born in Paterson, New Jersey and moved to Chattanooga in 1953. 

She and her husband of 64 years, Warren Oster had four wonderful children, BethAnn (W.C.) Childress, Steven (Judy), Timothy (Kelly), David (Cassi), 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, David (Vivian) Miller, sister, Lois (Don) Speakman, brother-in-law Joe Cardillo and many nieces and nephews.

Sara had a kind, loving spirit to all she came in contact with a Christian testimony to all who knew her.  She was for many years a faithful member of Eastwood Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was involved in many activities as well as Sunday school teacher for 28 years. Recently she was a member of Ooltewah Church of God, where  in a very short time was loved by all whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Dorothy Miller, twin sister, Nancy Lee Cardillo and Marilyn Mann.  

Sara with her husband and friends traveled to many countries which was a special thrill with many fond memories. 

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Edmond Stallings and Reverend Mike McGinnis officiating.  The interment will follow in Ooltewah Cemetery. The grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or The Gideon’s International Chattanooga Southeast Camp.
