The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office DARE car took first place competing with other DARE vehicles in a car show held during the Georgia DARE Conference in Dahlonega June 22-26.
The 2014 Dodge Charger was purchased with drug seizure funds and is being used by the sheriff’s office at special events such as parades and Special Olympics Torch Run. The local DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program has targeted fifth graders in local schools since 1982, with the goal of teaching them how to make good choices in life, especially about illegal drug use, gang membership, and bullying.
