Special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained indictments for the former Crockett County School System Technology director, charging the Halls man with theft, tampering with evidence and official misconduct.

At the request of 28th District Attorney General Garry Brown, TBI special agents, working in conjunction with investigators with the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury, began investigating Ashley Jordan on June 23, 2014. During the course of the investigation, agents developed information that while working for the Crockett County School System, Jordan used his position as technology director to funnel business to one particular vendor and received kickbacks as payment. According to information obtained during the investigation, Jordan also falsified bids and produced false invoices. The investigation further determined that items belonging to the Crockett County School System were found in Jordan’s home during the execution of a search warrant. Jordan, 42, resigned from his position with the Crockett County School System on July 21, 2014.

On July 20, the Crockett County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Jordan with one count of official misconduct, one count of theft over $10,000 and one count of tampering with evidence. Jordan turned himself in to TBI agents today. He was booked at the Crockett County Correctional Center and was released after posting a $10,000 bond.
