Curtis Murray
Curtis "Cookie Man" Murray Sr., 71, of Chattanooga, a retired Army veteran, died on July 23, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Deacon Murray was educated in the Hamilton County School System. He graduated from Howard School in 1961. After high school graduation, he joined the United States Army where he served our country for 21 years. Upon retirement from the Army, he worked at United States Post Office and as a school crossing guard.
He is survived by two sons, Curtis (Sallie) Murray, Jr., of Madison, Tn., Johnny (KyShawndra) Whiteside, OK; two daughters, Michelle (Reginald) Brewster, of Chattanooga, Lisa (Benson) Wariboko-Alali, Ok.; one brother, Fred (Florida) Murray, of Chattanooga; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two devoted friends, Morris Carr, Deacon Charles Anderson; a host of nieces, nephews and loved ones.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 30, at noon at New Enon Baptist Church with Pastor Andrew J. Bullard officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the National Cemetery.
