Students and staff at Bachman Academy begin each morning with a few solemn moments around the flagpole, saluting the American Flag and saying the Pledge of Allegiance. To help the school continue this tradition, representatives from the Woodman of the World Cleveland Chapter 16 visited Bachman Academy with the gift of an American flag.
When asked about the significance of this gift, Director of Development Anne Cadle said, “Although many of our students come from the Southeast United States, a fair amount come to us from all over the United States.
In the case of last school year, we educated four international students as well. For the American students, time around the flag each morning serves to remind us that, although we may have some geographic and cultural differences, we are all Americans first. For the International students, this time gives them a true American experience in their education.”
The Woodman of the World also donated bushes and flowers for around the flagpole.
“Keeping the campus looking its best is a priority for our maintenance staff, especially the area surrounding our flag pole. These flowers and shrubs will keep this area looking top notch for years to come,” Ms. Cadle stated.
Woodmen of the World is one of the largest distributors of U.S. flags. They have donated more than two million American flags and presented them to non-profit and community organizations. Woodmen of the World members celebrate patriotism in many ways, including presenting United States and religious flags, and presenting American Patriot’s Handbooks to schools, libraries and newly naturalized citizens.
“We extend our thanks to the members of the Woodman of the World for helping us celebrate freedom and teach patriotism to Bachman Academy students” Ms. Cadle said.
