Troy Van Zile
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics David Blackburn announced the hiring of Troy Van Zile as the Mocs’ Assistant Athletics Director for Development today.
Van Zile joins Chattanooga Athletics after spending the last year as the Executive Vice President of University Development at Impacts Unlimited in Nashville, Tenn. He also has seven years of collegiate athletics experience on his resume, including an Assistant A.D. for Development and Marketing position at Lamar.
“We are excited to have Troy join the leadership of our development team,” added Blackburn.
“He has extensive experience in fundraising and an enthusiastic approach that will help continue the growth of the Mocs Club.”
At Impacts Unlimited, Van Zile was responsible for all university fundraising duties and leadership of the private fundraising services company. There he had direct supervision and management of the sales staff and was the main catalyst in the execution of a sustainable fundraising program for educational systems.
Prior to working at Impacts Unlimited, Van Zile was the Assistant Athletics Director for Development and Marketing at Lamar in Beaumont, Texas. There he was responsible for all marketing and development operations, including major gifts, corporate sponsorships, annual giving, ticket operations, licensing, and media rights. He also served in similar roles at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Benedictine University.
Van Zile started his career as the event and entertainment manager for the Peoria (Ill.) Chiefs minor-league baseball team. He holds Master’s(’07) and Bachelor’s (’05) degrees in Sport Management from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.
A native of Reedsburg, Wisc., Van Zile is married to the former Kt Thompson.
