4th Annual International 1N3 Day Will Be Held On Saturday

  • Thursday, July 30, 2015

1N3 was started on Aug. 1, 2011 in Chattanooga after Kevin Daniel “Sunshine” Yates, was killed by a drunk driver.

Officials said, "The current statistic is, 'One in three of us will be impacted by drinking and driving'. To you this may be just a name and a statistic, but this is a reality for many others who have suffered loss due to this 100% preventable crime.  Unfortunately this statistic changed in October of 2014 to 2 in 3 people are impacted.

"This non-profit organization aptly named, 1N3, brings awareness to how many of us are “one in three impacted by drunk driving”. If you are a parent, sibling, grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin, or friend of a victim, or the impaired driver and their family or friend, you are 1N3.  This statistic needs to change."

1N3 wants to make a worldwide statement and is inviting all who are 1N3, and have been impacted by intoxicated driving, to participate in their Annual International 1N3 Day, on Saturday.

"We have chosen a balloon release ceremony, which will be at 1 p.m. in each time zone around the world. You can help to raise Awareness by hosting an event in your hometown, no matter what time zone or country you are in.

"From this tragedy, good things are happening.  To date, 1N3 has reached almost 3,000,000 people throughout the United States and abroad.  1N3 has traveled to numerous locations to spread awareness of the effects of how one choice can make a difference in the lives of hundreds and even thousands. We have spoken at many high schools, driver’s education programs, rehab centers, and participated in mock crashes, as well as many other venues.

"Thank you for your support and assistance in spreading the word of our 1N3 worldwide event. With you, our supporters, we are changing one mind at a time."
