The 2015 Latino Leadership Awards will be held on September 21 at the Downtown Chattanooga Mariott. The La Paz Chattanooga Latino Leadership Awards banquet is an annual celebration that honors the contributions area Latino leaders are making across the Chattanooga community. At the event, attendees will recognize 10 extraordinary local leaders for their work and service throughout the city. Two of these honorees will additionally be selected as the recipients of either the “Latino Leader of the Year” or “Chattanooga’s Choice” award. Two additional persons will be honored as the “Community Champion for Latinos” and “Emerging Latino Student Leader.”

The staff and board of directors of La Paz Chattanooga would like to invite the general public to nominate someone for the 2015 awards. The Latino leader nomination process will be open July 6 to July 26. Nominations for a local Latino Leader can be made via the event website: www.latinoleadershipawards.org.  Nominees must live within a 25-mile radius of Chattanooga and have illustrated excellence and achievement in their career and/or community involvement.

Once the nomination process closes on July 26, the ten honorees will be selected.  Afterwards, La Paz will then conduct another poll of the finalists to determine who the public deems worthy to be selected as the 2015 "Chattanooga's Choice" honor.

“Hispanic Heritage Month officially kicks off on September 15th,” said Stacy Johnson, executive director of La Paz Chattanooga. “And we feel there is simply no better way to kick off this month than to celebrate those who are vested in our community."

"As a past honoree of the Latino Leadership Award, it helped to fuel my desire to be of more service to the Latino community," said Christian Patiño, honored in 2012. "Being recognized was a pleasant surprise, and it motivated me to develop my leadership skills and meet others who were making a change in the community."

In addition to celebrating those chosen as honorees, the Latino Leadership Awards banquet will also feature a special keynote presentation from Renata Soto, the executive director and one of three founders of Conexión Américas, a nonprofit organization based in Nashville and founded in 2002 to promote the social, economic and civic integration of Hispanic families into the Tennessee community.

The Latino Leadership Awards banquet will be held on Monday, September 21, at the Downtown Chattanooga Marriott, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Officials said, "Sponsorship opportunities for the banquet are available on multiple levels and serve as a great way for companies and organizations to show support of the Latino community members who are making a difference in our area."
