Kenneth William Vandergriff, 76 of Chattanooga, died on Friday, July 31, 2015.
Mr. Vandergriff was from Signal Mountain and has been a resident of Hixson for the past 51 years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gladys Marie Vandergriff and his children, Tina Marie Vandergriff of Nashville, Kenneth Scott Vandergriff (Nikki) and Lori Vandergriff Yattoni, of Chattanooga, and one grandchild, Kelsey Nichole Yattoni of Chattanooga, sisters, Lynda Wallace (Carl), Janice Wilkey Wagner, and brother, Larry Vandergriff (Cheryl), all of Chattanooga, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Juanita Vandergriff, Chattanooga, brothers, James “Jim” Vandergriff and Jerry Vandergriff, of Chicago, and sister, Cheryl Nail, of Chattanooga.
He was retired from the Air Force, Air National Guard 241st Squadron after 43 years of service to his country, retiring as ranking senior master seargent. He specialized in telecommunications Engineering where his services allowed him extensive travels to 49 countries.
He served as a deacon for Ridgecrest Baptist Church of Red Bank and then Oakwood Baptist Church of Chattanooga. Serving the Lord, his church and his family were always his primary devotions.
Visitation will be at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Monday, Aug. 3, from 4-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Oakwood Baptist Church with the Reverend Ken Clark officiating. Burial following in Chattanooga Memorial Park in Red Bank.
Pallbearers will be Doyle Smith, Benny Malone, Terry Smith, Lane Keith, Wayne Heaton and Tom Basham.
Officiating will be by Pastor Ken Clark and the memorial by Grady Dishroon and Ron True.
Memorial contributions made to the Oakwood Baptist Church Building Fund.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 5401 Highway 153.
