Sheriff Steve Wilson Is New President Of Georgia Sheriffs’ Association

Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson was sworn in by Lt. Governor Casey Cagle as the 2015-2016 president of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association, Inc. during the annual Summer Training Conference on July 29 in Glynn County.  

“I consider it an honor to serve as president of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association. I look forward to continuing the great efforts that others have started” stated Sheriff Wilson.  

“For 18 years Sheriff Wilson has served and protected the citizens of Walker County and the State of Georgia as the sheriff of Walker County.  He is a man of high ethical and moral character and a proven leader.  As president of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association, Sheriff Wilson is in a position to offer his valuable skill and experience to all sheriffs and the citizens of our great State,” stated Terry Norris, executive director of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association.

Sheriff Wilson began his tenure as sheriff of the Walker County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 1, 1997.    He has been an active member within his community as well as the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association and continues to be a voice for all of Georgia’s Sheriffs.  

“The times are ever changing and the sheriffs of this state must stay abreast of the many issues that may affect law enforcement, the Office of Sheriff, and the citizens.  I pledge to be a leader in making a difference and upholding justice in a fair and impartial manner,” said Sheriff Wilson.

The Georgia Sheriffs' Association, Inc. is comprised of 159 elected sheriffs with the support of over 70,000 honorary members throughout the state who recognize and appreciate the service of the constitutional Office of Sheriff and the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes, Inc.
