Nashville Author Has Collection Of Hand-Carved Items From Lookout Mountain; Wants To Know Name Of Carver

  • Tuesday, August 11, 2015

A Nashville author has about 150 hand-carved items from Lookout Mountain, and he is trying to find out who carved them.

They include depictions of a walking cane, a boot, a letter opener, and a candle holder.

They all say Lookout Mountain.

Mr. Harlan believes the carver was a Civil War soldier who sold the carvings as souvenirs.

He said it is possible they may have been sold at Point Park at the turn of the century. There was a Civil War souvenir shop across from the entrance to the park.
