The Friends of the Festival began the Riverfront Nights series with local band Ragdoll, opening for headliner Shanytown from Jacksonville, Fla.  The pre-concert event included heartwarming remembrance of the fallen five servicemen, who on July 16 were killed in an ambush attack on area military posts.  They were Marines Carson Holmquist, Thomas Sullivan, David Wyatt, Skip Wells and Navy Petty Officer Randall Smith. Open remarks were by Scott Chase with KZ 106 and Kevin West, Naval Reservist, news director for Cumulus Media (KZ 106 / WGOW).

Ragdoll is a classic southern and current rock and roll party band.  The female front band is led by Rhonda Layne as lead vocals with band mates Charley Yates on lead guitar, Kenny Palmer on bass, Ashley Williams on drums and Greg Rudder as sound / lights engineer.

The Chattanooga based band Ragdoll brings a high energy, 80’s rock, dance originated rock n roll show, to the music masses.  Ragdoll proved to have the right rockin’ chemistry with the crowd as they fronted for the Van Zant Legacy with next generation Shanytown.  Look for more coverage on the Shanytown visit to Riverfront Nights soon.
