Youth Theatre Holds Auditions For "Edgar"

  • Wednesday, August 12, 2015

Auditions for the Youth Theatre’s season opener, "Edgar," will be held Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, at 4:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Mildred M. Montague Circle Theatre.

Scott Dunlap will direct the production, which he also wrote. Actors in grades 4–12 are invited to audition. Edgar will be double cast which means two complete casts will be formed to perform alternately for the public and school performances.

The story: Edgar has been called into the principal’s office once again. It seems that his bizarrely twisted writing assignments have gotten him in trouble. As Edgar defends his dark imagination, we see adaptions of “The Raven,” “The Black Cat,” and “The Tell-Tale Heart” by his mentor, a certain Mr. Poe, spring to life in delightfully spooky way. A great introduction to the macabre works of Edgar Allan Poe for sixth grade and up.

There will be six public performances and eight daytime school performances Oct. 23-Nov. 1. A complete list of roles available will be posted soon at TheatreCentre.com.
